Donald Trump, revealed this week via a regulatory filing on behalf of his company, Trump Media & Technology Group Corp., that his campaign has created a nonprofit company to serve as the shell for his presidential transition team.

It is clear from the fact that such a regulatory filing exists at all that the Trump presidential campaign and Trump Media & Technology, which controls the social media platform Truth Social, are as close as conjoined twins.

I previously reported that a Cayman Island’s-based investment firm — located in a foreign tax haven — has agreed to purchase up to $2.5 billion in stock from Trump Media & Technology, which is majority owned by candidate Trump. Who is going to purchase the stock through the overseas investment firm and when remains an opaque mystery. [See link to story here.]

From the filing, made on Aug. 22 with the US Securities & Exchange Commission revealing the creation of Trump Vance 2025 Transition Inc.:

In August 2024, Donald J. Trump, Jr., [presidential candidate Donald Trump’s son] who currently serves as a director of [Trump Media & Entertainment] was appointed as a director and was announced by President Donald J. Trump as an honorary co-chair of Trump Vance 2025 Transition, Inc., a newly-formed 501(c)(4) nonprofit, the purpose of which is to organize and prepare for the assumption of duties of the President of the United States and facilitate the presidential transition after the 2024 election.

In August 2024, Ms. [Linda] McMahon [former SBA administrator under Trump], who currently serves as a director of the [Trump Media & Entertainment], was also appointed as a director (and was announced by President Donald J. Trump as a co-chair) of Trump Vance 2025 Transition, Inc.

Translated, the SEC filing reveals that Trump’s son, Don Jr., and Linda McMahon, his former SBA head and cofounder of World Wrestling Entertainment, will co-chair Trump’s presidential transition team, now organized under a new Florida nonprofit called Trump Vance 2025 Transition Inc.

Don Jr. and McMahon also serve as directors of Trump Media & Technology, the parent of Truth Social, while candidate Trump is the majority owner of Trump Media & Technology.

There’s not a whole lot of daylight between the Trump’s presidential campaign, his presidential transition planning leadership and Truth Social it would appear. That’s why following the money matters so much in this case.

The incorporation filing

The register agent for the nonprofit, created on Aug. 13, 2024, per Florida incorporation records, is listed as Jacob W. Roth, located at 1601 Forum Place in West Palm Beach, Florida, the same address as the Dhillon Law Group.

Roth also served as one of the attorneys for Trump in the Colorado lawsuit heard last year that sought to keep him off the ballot there. From an Associated press photo cutline.
